And God said to Abram, "I will make you into a great nation and
I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." Genesis 12:2-3
A promise is a promise. That's an expression
we use in my home to indicate a special agreement is being made.
Kids are a magnet for promises. They cling to them with an iron
grip and remember the details of each one. And as much as we try
we probably don't keep all of our promises. But a promise is a promise.
One of the sure truths of creation is that God keeps His promises,
every one of them, no exceptions. God made quite a few promises
to Abraham. The amazing thing is that not all of the promises were
fulfilled during Abraham's lifetime. Some of them weren't realized
until many years after his death. God's timetable isn't necessarily
ours. But the whole course of Abraham's life was shaped around the
confidence that: A promise is a promise.
